Kajiado Central By election, Memusi win and the ‘CRISIS of HYPOCRISY’

The challenge we are having in ODM and CORD are those in positions of RESPONSIBILITY who do nothing, totally NOTHING, BUT take credit for the labours of others. I call it the ‘crisis of hypocrisy’.

It is a kind of ‘thanklessness’ which has made so many people around our party leader who offer their all to retreat, and let the usual joyriders have their self-indulgent fiestas.

A simmering feud among various supporters of our leaders silently going on now is the big question: WHO DELIVERED KAJIADO?

Personally, and my view is shared fully by my friend Abdullahi Musa, the democrat from Suna East deserve a BIG pat on his back. He is not asking for it. Only that those of us around him feel some leaders high in the file are taking credit for a fight they didn’t engage in. This is how it went down:

1.Memusi Ole Kanchori was in ODM before. He only defected to little known KNC party of Peter Kenneth after the 2013 ‘shambolic’ nomination exercise.

2.Memusi only returned where he belonged, after coming to the conclusion JAP is a big joke. He contacted Osoi, the Deputy Director of Elections to reach out to his Boss Hon Junet Mohamed so that the party can accommodate him in regard to the nomination exercise that was to be conducted in a week’s time.

3.Osoi called Junet and Ababu about the matter, but what Osoi didn’t know is that Memusi had already reached out to Junet through Nkaiserry. Yes, politics ni kujipanga wasee!!!

4.After several phone calls the three met with Memusi at a certain restaurant in Nairobi at about 3am in the morning.

5.Memusi agreed to be subjected to fair nomination process that included 5 other aspirants.

6.The exercise was conducted and Memusi came out as the winner with a landslide victory.

7.On Monday Feb. 16th, Memusi was cleared by IEBC to run on a ODM ticket in front of CORD Coalition principals including and ODM Party officials including the Chairman, the SG and the Director of Elections.

8.On the same day, Cord leaders did a tour of Kajiado Central FROM ODM headquarters in Kjiado TO Namanga by road.

9.That was the LAST rally our SG Hon. Ababu attended in the whole of Memusi campaign trail. Mark this date.

19th Feb Junet Mohamed accompanied party leader to Dalalekutuk at Mzee Ole Kinayi who hosted them and out of generosity slaughtered a bull for them. They made one on one tour of the area.

10. On 20TH Feb Junet Mohamed and other host of Mps traversed the vast Kajiado central constituency.

On 21st Feb. Junet convened a meeting at Orange House. Ababu was invited and feeling ‘belittled’ by the invitation, never attended. Undisturbed, Junet formed a committee to spearhead Kajiado Central campaign. In the meeting a resource mobilization committee was also formed. Overall he was requested to be the chair of the Resource Committee which he accepted.

23rd Feb. Hon. Junet Mohamed attended a rally at Kalia and Eukutot both in Matapato North.

25th Feb. Junet joined Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka and his Wiper team to drum up support for Memusi. He also held town hall meetings with Kambas living in Kajiado Central.

28th.Junet, using his own personal resources, hired a chopper and carried Memusi from his residence for stop-overs campaign in Kajiado Central.

6th March. At City Hall for a Harambee for Memusi attended by CORD leaders, conspicuously absent was Ababu and Mbadi. Junet mobilized to raise over 12 Million for the campaign.

7th March. In the morning Junet, organized and attended a town hall meeting with the Muslims – the Somalis living in Kajiado Central. He was accompanied by Hon Abdikadir -ODM organizing secretary. Fatuma Ibrahim-Wajir county women Rep, Abdikadir Ore-Wajir West MP,
Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o-Senator Kisumu county.

In the afternoon he joined party leader Hon Raila Odinga,Governor Nkadienyi,Governor Nanok, Sen Nyongo,Midiwo,Ken Okoth,Mbadi, Judy Pareno and the candidate Memusi at Olooirimi and Enkorika in Purko.

8th March. Junet accompanied Party Leader Raila Odinga,Governor Nkadienya and Memusi to various churches in Kajiado Central.

13th March. Junet together with Kalonzo,Weta and a team from Coast headed by Governor Joho toured Kajiado Central to drum up support for Memusi.

On 16th March, Hon Junet Mohamed was alone chasing JAPanese thieves from rigging.

He was later joined by TEAM BABAPODPEK where they managed to get hold of over sh 300,000 meant to bribe voters, Arrested 5 JAPanese. They were later joined by MPs and Senators.

MEMUSI WON.

After the win, we’ve seen a lot of chest-thumping from Party Chairman John Mbadi and SG Ababu Namwamba. Everyone should celebrate but some should do so ‘shamefully’.

PS. Abdullahi Musa immensely contributed to this post. We only hope our 2017 Presidential Elections will not be conducted by Mbadi and Ababu in the same manner they conducted Kajiado polls.
