Top political strategists are all in agreement that election of Peter Munya to chair the council of Governors is a BLESSING to the Opposition party CORD. It may have been by design that ODM presented fairly competent candidates instead of the Super competent like Governor Joho to easily afford Munya an easy sail.
Hon Munya was firebrand University of Nairobi student leader during his time just like the outgoing chairman good governor and Devolution defender H.E Isaac Ruto.
The two are not easy push overs like testtube politicians the likes of Murkomen, they basically understand the drill owing to their long experience in the political chess board.
Here is how one pundit captured it a day before the elevation of Hon Munya to ‘H.E the Chairman’
Munya best bet for Gov Council Chair. It will create another center of power in Mbas and Meru. It will give Munya the guts and platform to take on Kiraitu, and Kithure Kindiki and then we can engineer more political infighting in Meru politics which means instability within Jubilee. A weak Jubilee is good for Kenya.
And after the Vote count, here is another take>>>>
Yes the battle goes to the next level; obviously Unye wouldn’t love a United Meru, propping Munya divides the Ameru pple, sets him strategically to take on Kindiki the Ruto man/URP pointman in Meru and then throw Kiraitu into the mix fighting to stay relevant in Meru politics, and u have 3 centers of power fighting for Njuri Ncheke coronation, and now we have confusion; dividing these cousins keeps the Meru people beholden to their blue blooded cousins, who demand their support, but never even have a succession plan to reciprocate, not even groom a Meru leader to be at least the Ruto running mate in 2022.
Mwiraria as DP Deputy leader, should have been the automatic Kibaki preferred successor, but is now squarely set up to go to Kamiti to bear the burden of framed up corruption charges while the “real eaters” are scot-free. He was recently dumped from the KWS Board, used then dropped like a hot potato. Kiraitu was the hatchet man for the Anglo-leasing clique, an errand boy being sent around to intimidate Githongo on behalf of the real mafia, who pocketed/siphoned the Anglo-leasing cash.
Muthaura- a very good man by the way, misused, then left to endure the ICC induced hypertension…. was only saved by the mercy of the judges…otherwise he bore the burden of the mafia who stole the elections in 2007….
I hope Munya manages to realize this and helps the Ameru, or “faite” to curve a new niche unto themselves. Of course he wouldn’t have won without support of CORD’s majority in the Gov Council, which means in private he has been whining about this hegemonistic practice that threatens the very survival of the people he seeks to be King over- The Ameru.
Meaning he must have sought the support of Kenya’s political master tactician to win Cord support(who command majority of Gov). Which means they are talking big things like Okoa Kenya and so on. And it is definitely in CORD’s best interest that Munya won to introduce a new center of power.
Oparanya win would have upset the balance of power within CORD, and getting Wetangula and ODM blue eyed boy Ababu Namwamba to draw his daggers. That is how hrs before Munya was confirmed, I predicted with ease, that it was easier to reach consensus on Munya. This was his time, he was at the right place at the right time. The gods were on his side.
