They say failure to plan is planning to fail. This seems to have been the scenario at the UON where Pope Francis delivered an inspiring sermon to the faithful.
Television clips aired later showed serious stampede situation at the screening points near the main gate that led to a few cases of faithful fainting.
Much as I sympathise with our officers for working under difficult weather conditions, I feel a simple SWOT analysis of the situation would have revealed that one single gate would not be enough for the Security checks of the magnitude gathered to recieve the Pope’s blessings.
There is no point of fearing Al shaabab and killing souls in a stampede. Lessons must be drawn here.
As the Pope aptly put it, we should only be Afraid of African mosquitoes and not rag tag militias.
