Don’t get me wrong. I am one of the strongest supporters for the call for a referendum so Kenyans can get the opportunity to rectify issues where the same politicians shortchanged them. It is long overdue.
As politicians exchange threats on what they want included in the referendum, one wonders who these politicians, who are actually the reason why we are calling for a referendum, speak on behalf of. If it were not for the failure of the politicians we elected as leaders, if it were not their inability to deliver the heaven they promised us during the campaigns, if it weren’t for their greed in justising us, if it were not for their greed in grabbing and involvement in corruption, and if it were not for their falsification in actions leading to them short hanging us, why would we go for a referendum? A politician should be the last to tell us what we want in a referendum.
The jubilee call for maximum age of 65 years for one to be president to be included in the referendum is an insult on our integrity as a people. You have played with our psychology long enough and it is time we showed you the doors of exit. After all, are you not the reason why we are calling for a national referendum? If you didn’t practice nepotism, if you didn’t practice tribalism and favoritism, if you did not selfishly grab Kenyan soil left and right, if you were not as corrupt as you are,yet pretend to be holier than thee, why would Kenyans call for a national referendum? If you did what you were elected to do by first respecting our constitution, the rules we gave you under which you were to govern us, Kenyans would not be calling for a referendum.
This is what KENYANS want (QUOTE ME RIGHT: KENYANS, NOT POLITICIANS). KENYANS want Jubilee out of power like yesterday!
If the referendum that Kenyans are going to vote for does not include the demands for Jubilee to be removed from office, then we do not approve that call for a referendum. Who doesn’t feel the heat on the ground? Who can’t read the wishes of the fatigued populace, tired of carrying the burden of jubilee on our shoulders? Are our politicians for real? If they are for real, let this flow and sink into their minds….KENYANS WANT TO VOTE FOR THE REMOVAL OF JUBILEE FROM POWER THROUGH A REFERENDUM! If any politician or person calls for a referendum without this demand, then that is not the people’s referendum and it is not worth voting for.
The crucial point of age should be refined and redefined. Politicians should not use certain issues like age to find a leeway to deny us the right leadership in our midst while imposing unworthy leadership in our midst. The official retirement age of any public officer is 55 years. Why not a president? Why not a politician? Why will we not have a president’s retirement age at 55, just like everyone else? What is so special about a politician that he can’t retire at 55 just like everyone else? Let the maximum age for one to vie for the presidency be 55 and a minimum of 18. And bring this over to the referendum, if these Jubilee goons are honest and are seeking for the good of the people.
The referendum, since it is meant to create room for a fair play today and the days to come, given that we have realized how politicians can easily transform themselves into gods instead of the servants of the people, we want Kenyans to vote for the electoral college system, where Kenya will be divided into 47 electoral colleges, so the winner takes it all. We need to have all counties included in governance. We need to fight a case where politicians are busy planting their tribes to vote for them in large numbers, forcing them to practice political schemes like seen in the past general elections where the state machinery was used to issue ID cards to minors who voted for their politicians.
This is my summary and let me sum it here so I cannot be misquoted, as this is the wishes of the people on the ground:
1. KENYANS should vote in a referendum if they need Jubilee in power until 2017
2. KENYANS should vote in a referendum if they want the presidential maximum age of 55 and minimum of 18
3. KENYANS should vote in a referendum if they support the electoral college system.
If it has to be a people friendly referendum, then facts affecting the people (not facts affecting the politicians) should be subjects to be included in the referendum.
WE ARE WAITING…….!
