Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has been injured after he was beaten up by police at a road block along the Eldoret-Nakuru road. The incident has caused angry residents to block the highway causing a major traffic snarly-up in the area. The MP says he was stopped for over speeding but he tried to explain himself but three officers forced one of them to enter his car. A scuffle ensued during which the MP was injured on the chest and legs. Police fired bullets as they tried to keep away angry crowds.
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Mohammed and senior police officers are in the area to calm down the situation and reopen the busy highway. The post Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Beaten Like A Dog! appeared.
The beating of the MP brings back memories of 2006 when Traffic Police along Nairobi Naivasha highway flagged down the driver of the then World Bank country director to Kenya Makhtar Diop for over-speeding and what followed was a diplomatic row, then police commissioner general Hussein Ali maintained that police were right to accuse the Diop’s driver for over-speeding despite his diplomatic status.
