The most brutal murderer in Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army has escaped facing justice at the International Criminal Court.
He had been presumed dead but forensic evidence from DNA samples taken from a corpse Uganda soldiers exhumed in South Sudan now confirm he is actually the one.
In the 2005 warrant of arrest issued by ICC against him, he is variously described as a “ruthless killer,†“the one who killed the most,†and as “a ‘bitter’ man who will kill anyone,†quoting accounts of former LRA commanders and members.
With the arrest of Dominic Ongwen, the only remaining top commanders of the militia still at large are Alphonse Lamola and Joseph Kony. VIncent Oti, Raska Lukwiya, Odong Latek and Nixman Oryanga are dead.
Another LRA big vegetable, Ceaser Acellam, is cooling off in a military prison in Uganda, having been captured in Central Africa Republic in 2012.
