DAILY NATION: Embu Governor Martin Wambora has paid bail for the release of a 100-year-old grandmother, who has been held at the Embu GK Prison for the past nine days.
He engaged lawyer Wairimu Rugaita to pay the Sh.100,000 cash bail to save Margaret Ngima Gakoromo from serving a three month jail term.
But according to Citizen TV news, the lady had been released by senator Sonko:
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has bailed out the 100 years old Embu granny sent to jail for three months for contempt of Court last week.
The Senator, through his Sonko Rescue Team, bailed out the granny who had already served a whole week at the Embu Women GK Prisons.
Margaret Ngima was sent to prison by Resident Judge Florence Muchemi after contempt of Court following a 18 year old land cases.
Ngima was sentenced to a three month jail term or pay fine of Ksh 100,000 which she was unable to raise.The Sonko Rescue Team Central Coordinator Pius Njeru said that as team they took it as their responsibility to rescue the deserving granny.
