VIDEO: Raila exposes NASA colleagues on Uhuru park swearing-in lies

February 22, 2021 1 Comment

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga on Saturday, February 20, told his former National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders that he will not be supporting any of them for the presidency.

The former prime minister accused the NASA coalition brigade of abandoning him at his hour of need, even before he could accomplish their agenda.

Raila said that Musalia Mudavadi of Amani National Congress (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper party, and Moses Wetang’ula of FORD Kenya failed to show up during his swearing-in ceremony in 2017 after the highly contested presidential elections.

“When we were going for the swearing-in, in Nairobi, they refused. They switched off their phones and they were shivering due to fear. They now want me to give them the mantle by supporting them,” Raila said.

Raila wondered how he could pass the mantle to them when they never stood with him to the last point.

“I won’t give them because they demonstrated their cowardice.”

Raila who was speaking at a burial in Ndiwa, Homa Bay County, dismissed the call by Musalia, Kalonzo, and Wetang’ula asking him to endorse one of them as the 2022 candidate.

He said that he was currently focusing on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and had no time for the 2022 politics.

“We are busy now with the BBI discourse. The road ahead is still rough and murky and so we don’t need to bog Kenyans’ minds with 2022 politics,’’ he added.

The ODM’s leader also said that he was sure that 24 counties shall have endorsed the BBI by Tuesday.

Raila has not openly declared whether he will vie for presidency in the coming General Elections, saying that his position will only be known after the BBI has been approved by the counties.

Former NASA leaders have in the past told Raila that he had his one shot at the presidency and missed and that it was time him to supported one of them.

“When I created the NASA coalition in 2017, Raila told us that he was using his last bullet to go for the presidency, and it is hypocritical for him to run again in 2022,” said Mudavadi.
