Vendors ‘warned’ against selling ODM Weekly Newspaper

November 6, 2015 Leave a Comment

A spot check in Nairobi shows ODM Newspaper – the Kenyan Weekly – which hit the streets this morning is not being stocked by some vendors.

Kenya Today has learnt that at least two mainstream media houses have directed their vendors not to stock the paper, which is seen as a threat to their dominance in the market. One media house went as far is buying the first copies of the paper which hit the streets early this morning, thus many people have not been able to get the paper.

Other regions have also reported not getting the newspaper. In Kisii, the 600 copies that were to be distributed through a vendor is said to have instead ended up in Kisumu, where the copies have been selling like hot ngege.

According to a research conducted by Ipsos Synovate, the market for the ODM paper has the potential to challenge the dominance of the two leading newspapers in the country in less than two years.

Attempts to get a comment from Orange House has been fruitless as calls to the Communications Director Mr. Phil Etale went unanswered. However, supporters of the party are all over social media wondering why the newspaper is not in Nairobi.
