The supremacy battle pitying University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Rogers Mbithi and DVC Finance Prof. Benard Njoroge has reached fever pitch, with Njoroge’s three right hand men (including one woman) summarily suspended.
The three include Chief Internal Auditor Peter Igiria, Chief Legal Officer Rebecca Wairimu Ngondo, and Chief Finance Officer Michael Karue.
“In compliance with government directive dated February 2014 on retention of services beyond mandatory age of retirement, it is now the directive of the council that the circular be complied with,†the letter says.
Shockingly, the three came from one tribe. This means at the University of Nairobi’s Finance Department, the DVC Prof Njoroge could comfortable hold a meeting with the top three departments in his mother tongue.
In fact, so confident were these officers of the protection from ‘interference’ that showed open defiance to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mbithi.
Prof. Njoroge is brother to Eng. Joseph Njoroge, the Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary.
