CITY PARK Market traders who have been rioting the whole morning today attacked Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero with stones and other other sharp objects, demanding compensation from the county government.
Kidero, who had visited the park found himself at the receiving end when the rioters, who seemed well orchestrated, turned violent and assaulted him. Sources indicate he has been taken to hospital.
Sadly, close aides of the governor told this writer he had received information that paid youths were planning to hijack the peaceful protests to cause violence. Â Police threw teargas to disperse the demonstrators.
The confusion surrounding the land emanates from a misconception that the land has already been grabbed and a private developer is ready to move in. Today’s demo was however due to the delay by Nairobi county fire department to respond to the incident.
