Luhya MPs have this evening received summonses to the house on the hill. They are required to assemble at State House gates Thursday morning at for a meeting at 8:00am. The development comes amidst a national storm arising from a secret trade deal by Kenya and Uganda that involves unregulated sugar imports to Kenya from Uganda.
The summoning comes as state intelligence picked information in parliamentary corridors about formation of a CORD led inter-party group formed to look into the unfolding sugar industry crisis.
The summons to legislators were made late Wednesday evening following an eventful day were social media debate raged on the apparent governtment callousness innallowing imports to a major industry tinkering on the verge of collapse. It is expected some former retired and semi retired Luhya MPs have been ropped into the meeting as Jubilee lacks elected MPs in the region.
UPDATED 8.30pm EAT: Summonses now expanded to to include CORD MPs from sugar cane growing regions of Western Kenya.
