Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro yesterday suffered another blow when the 33 member Coast parliamentary group ousted him from heading the association. Also removed was Mung’aro ally Khatib Mwashetani, MP for Lunga Lunga.

Mung’aro was replaced by CORD leaning Gunga Mwinga, MP for Kaloleni. The Ford Asili MP was endorsed by all members present during the meeting.  ODM MP Jones Mlolwa (Taita) replaced Mwashetani as the new Secretary General.

“We have been elected not because we are best than others, but to ensure Coast MPs are united,” Mwinga said. Gov. Joho man Abdulswamad Nassir (Mvita) became the new organizing secretary.

“It should not be cooked up or misinterpreted as punishment to former interim officials who have defied their coalition’s political ideologies,” he said.

Others  are Shakilla Abdallah (Lamu) new vice chair, Mishi Mboko (Mombasa) the new deputy secretary general, Zuleikha Hassan (nominated) treasurer, Suleiman Dori (Msambweni) Deputy Organizing Secretary, Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) the Whip, while National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip, Thomas Mwadeghu, Halima Ware (Tana River) and Hassan Mwanyoha (Matuga) are the caucus’s senior advisers.
