PRESS RELEASE 2015-08-05 IN LONDON UK
ON THE ONGOING ODM PARTY ELECTION
On the ongoing ODM Party Elections, I have decided NOT to contest for any position and I will remain loyal Party member and to the Party Leader Rt. Hon Raila Amollo Odinga. I will continue pushing for the dream and agenda of the party. Have served the Party as ODM Youth Leader for Kisumu County since 28th November 2011 till to-date and it is time to move into the next level and give space to other youth too as I prepare myself for the bigger task ahead of serving Nyakach Constituency/County of Kisumu come 2017 in another capacity which i will announce in due time. I wish those who are contesting blessings.
I want to call upon our party to give emerging young leaders opportunity by allowing the process to be free, fair and democratically in which everybody is allowed to participate and give his/her voice and views. Youth also must come out and realize the opportunity given by the party to position themselves for the leadership and for the call to realize the vision of the party and of the Government By the People and of the People, Government free of Corruption, injustice but offer security, empowerment, education and equal opportunities to proper and this we can get if we elect the right leadership which I believe ODM/CORD is having.
Many thanks to all Kisumu County ODM Youth members who trusted me with the position and to ODM Leadership for having confident in me, even though it was not easy full with attacks and lots of politics which some were my strength to move on while some were destructive to the plans I had for our youth, I owe you many appreciation because without you I would have not been where I am today. You made me to make history by being the first elected Youth leader for the county in the first years of devolution. Thank you all for climbing with me the mountain till this far, remember we still have heavy load to carry and I humble request that we remain united and support the new leaders for us to reach the destination. Let not this party elections divide us but let it unite us.
On the matters of National interest, I will continue push for Opportunities for youth to engage in governance and participate in political and decision-making processes. Finally, as it is written in 1 Timothy 4:4-12, Let no one despises you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Leaders don’t force people to follow; they invite them on a journey. I therefore invite our youth to join the force because we are the change we need. And to be an example, other leaders must follow the same to give way for other too. Thank you all.
