A CORD leaning civil servant has lost his job after his colleagues claimed he ‘insulted’ President Uhuru Kenyatta during a beer brawl.
The man, Donald Avude, is said to have shown disrespect to the head of state during a heated argument while having drinks with his colleagues in a Lamu pub. It is his work-mates who later reported him to his seniors.
However, sources close to Avude claim he only disagreed with his colleagues on matters touching on politics and that being perceived to be an ‘opposition’ supporter, his collogues got a chance to fix him.
“It was all about wanting his job. They had told him he won’t be employed in ‘their government’ and sure they axed him out. We’ve heard the same is happening in several departments of government where any hint of bias towards CORD can make you jobless,” a friend of the Avude told this writer.
The case is already in Court.
This is the second incident where a person is claimed to have insulted President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenyans during Kibaki era may have lived ‘large’ and thought some past experiences were long discarded to the dustbins of history.
Mr Avude is the Ecosystems Conservator in charge of Lamu County.
