Nairobi – The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Keriako Tobiko wants Central Bank Governor, Njuguna Ndung’u charged over alleged graft at the bank.
The DPP’s directive comes after a recommendation by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) that proposed the prosecution of Ndung’u and other top officials at CBK because they did not follow the public procurement regulations in awarding a KES 1.2 billion tender for the installation of security software at the bank,Daily Nation reports.
According to EACC, taxpayers lost KES 400 million in the tender.
However, Ndung’u has repeatedly defended himself against the graft, saying those behind it will soon be brought to limelight.
The DPP acknowledged that he had responded to the EACC regarding the matter but refused to confirm or deny proposed charges against Ndung’u.
