As the arrival of CORD leader and father of modern democracy in Kenya nears, plans are already afoot to accord the popular leader a grand entry back home.
Now christened ‘public intellectual’ after a series of lecturers in America’s most prestigious universities, Odinga is expected back in the country later this month.
Friends of Raila (FORA) a political lobby group composed youth supporters of the ODM leader has revealed they plan to marshall millions to welcome Odinga back.
“It has been a long absence. His being away has been felt in our hearts. We will be at JKIA to report everything that they (Jubilee Alliance did while he was away, like jailing Somalis and also Kidero saying he now has balls,” joked one of the Fora supporters.
Others only quipped they feel so suffocated when Tinga is away.
“I must confess sometimes I feel insecure. I feel unsafe. I don’t know why but this man Tinga makes Kenya safer. ODM damu,” revealed another.
The enigma left Kenya mid march for a series of academic and leadership engagements in the US of A – the world’s biggest democracy – and has so far made lectures at Harvard University, State University of New York, Columbia University, Boston University and Morehouse College.
Morehouse College is the alma mater of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, the African-American civil rights leader. He has also attended church services with the Kenyans in diaspora where he reportedly ‘wowed’ the Kikuyus abroad.
