Interior CS Joseph Ole Nkaissery has refuted claims that Deputy IG Grace Syombua Kaindi had been sacked, saying she had attained her mandatory retirement age of 60.
This however flies considering National Police Commission had recommended she exists but she refused, claiming her contract was to end in 2018. Her fate is said to have been sealed at a meeting between President Uhuru and senior police bosses at the end of which she was ordered to fly from Nairobi to Mombasa and the message personally delivered to her by President Uhuru.
“To ensure a smooth transition and continue the ongoing reforms in the National Police Service, I have nominated Mr. Joel Kitili, as acting Deputy Inspector General, with immediate effect, and until the substantive processing of appointment of the next DIG takes place,†read Kenyatta’s statement.
Speaking this morning at Harambee House, Gen. Nkaissery  revealed the nomination of GSU comandant John Kitili to replace her became inevitable as there was no ‘high ranking’ woman in the police force that could replace her.
Kaindi has allegedly been given an ambassadorial posting though the destination has not yet been revealed.
