TENSION in Homa Bay as Jakakimba ,Rabongo and Caroli SUPPORTERS set to CLASH in HB Town

December 9, 2014

By Hesbon Ochieng in Homa Bay
There is tension in Homa Bay town as supporters of top senate aspirants seeking ODM nominations are set to clash. Silas Jakakimba, Fred Rabongo and Caroli Omondi are reportedly set to launch their campaigns today Wednesday december 10th in Homa Bay town.

Candidates confirmed yesterday that their ground troupes were preparing to take up the campaign full-fledge.
Meanwhile, the council of elders has called for a meeting with aspirants, MPs and all local leaders today Wednesday 10th December at 9.00 am. It is not clear what the agenda will be. Suba elders already endorsed Jakakimba last week and it remains to be seen if the situation will change with the entry of the monied Caroli Omondi.

Caroli Omondi, the former principal secretary of the Prime Minister is the latest entrant to the race.

On Saturday supporters of Jakakimba were reportedly said to have sealed sections of the town declaring it a ‘Jakakimba zone’ albeit on a light note. Rabongo is said to be ferrying his supporters from Kabondo to Homa Bay town as a show of financial muscle and this may likely cause tension among opposing groups.

Jakakimba has more youth following especially in Homa Bay town, Mbita, Gwasi, Karachuonyo and Oyugis area. Caroli Omondi with his fast wealth can easily mobilize and ferry supporters from his home area of Gwasi although money is never an attributing factor in South Nyanza since the electorate expect their interests represented.

On Tuesday evening the town was vibrant. There was a pick-up vehicle with a PA system making rounds with Emma Jalamo singing praise songs for his home boy Jakakimba. The songs have been a hit in Homa Bay for the last two years and with the campaign euphoria, more songs are set be released.
