An eyewitness has shared with this writer a sad case of the death of a police officer who fell ill but could not get a vehicle to rush him to hospital and started trekking the many kilometers to receive medication.
Though details are sketchy, and we are yet to independently confirm the report, it is alleged that the police officer, whose names have been given as Fuad Shiro, and who comes from Mombasa, likoni area (attended Likoni secondary school) fell ill with heavy headache and fever, requested his seniors to take him to hospital but was told there is no vehicle.
As his condition got worse, he started trekking to the hospital, several kilometers away in the dry and hot northern kenya sun, but succumbed along the way and was found dead by the roadside, some two kilometers to the dispensary.
The police then rushed his burial to keep the fateful death out of public knowledge. It is said a reporter with a local mainstream media who was following the story was bribed to kill it, and attempts to reach the said reporter has bore no fruits as his phone went unanswered.
