The Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism has hired another British PR company, Grayling, to, in the firms’s PR language, ”support the government’s strategy for the recovery and revival of tourism and inward investment in Kenya”.
Grayling becomes the newest entrant in Kenya government books and which will cost taxpayers millions of shillings as Uhuru regime moves to restore its badly damaged image as a government extremely incompetent in the face of terrorism.
A source working in government reveals the budget for PR for this government will in the end be more than the combined funding to at least 10 counties annually!
The handling of Garissa Attack, where the government took hours to respond, and, where top government officials have badly exposed how insensitive they are to the grieving families and victims, by among other things congratulating themselves on a job well done, even as students waited for hours to be rescued, appears to have jolted the government into another face-saving public relations.
Grayling joins BTP Advisers and Tony Blair’s AGI in a list of spin doctors returning to Africa to rake in billions as they assist incompetent, despotic and ruthless regimes, from Zimbabwe to the Gambia, to cling to power.
The PR company will promote Kenya’s potential globally and assist the Government in communicating its message effectively both regionally and internationally.
