Deputy President William Ruto is once again entangled in a multi-billion shilling hospital upgrade scandal which will see the public lose over Sh11 billion allegedly siphoned by him.
A Nairobi businessman-cum-whistle-blower has revealed the cost of upgrading Moi teaching and Referral Hospital was irregularly increased from Ksh 17 billion to Ksh 28 billion – with the difference of 11 billion getting into unknown pockets.
“The agreement with whoever will win the Expression of Interests for construction of the new facility, which has since been advertised, is that the project will cost Sh17 billion. The balance from the Sh28 billion will go to someone, but I do not know who it is,” he claimed.
At the centre of the new scandal is the hostile takeover of the deal to upgrade the Eldoret based hospital from the businessman by DP Ruto. The businessman claims Ruto snatched the deal from using personal aides attached to the office of the Deputy President.
