Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has come to the rescue of Kasarani residents who have been on a four-day strike over dilapidated Kasarani road.

According to the residents, they took it to the streets because their Member of Parliament hon Mercy Gakuya refused to listen to them and forward Their grievances to relevant authorities.

They said their MP has never stepped foot in Mwiki, Clay City and Kasarani Wards yet those are areas where she garnered more votes.

Others said the MP has in several occasions been heard saying the people of Kasarani did not vote for her so that she brings development, but to oust former MP hon John Njoroge Chege, which she did and therefore owe them nothing.

Senator Sakaja who was accompanied by Gatundu South MP hon Moses Kuria, and aspiring MP for Kasarani hon Peter Wambugu alias PEMWA, confirmed a contractor and machinery have already been sent to the site to access the situation.

Hon PEMWA asked residents to restore sanity and and maintain peace going forward.

Police allegedly shot dead one demonstrator during the protest.

The demonstrators led by matatu drivers, conductors and residents barricaded the road  since Monday demanding immediate action.

Police allegedly shot dead two demonstrators during the protest. Members of the public engaged security personnel in running battles.
