Kenya Today can authoritatively report that 13 Kalenjin MPs this morning met CORD top leaders at a hotel in Nairobi ahead of tomorrow rally.
Details of the meeting, though scanty, point to the growing disaffection of leaders in the Rift Valley with increasing sidelining of Kalenjins from strategic government positions.
The closed door meeting was attended by CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and acting ODM leader Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o.
Also in the meeting included ODM chairman Henry Kosgey and Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok.
The presence of Hon Kosgey, a long-serving Tindiret MP and respected Kalenjin leader may point to a possible splinter of URP as several Rift Valley leaders are already openly rebelling against Deputy President William Ruto whom the kalenjin community is accusing of not doing enough to protect its professionals working in government.
The meeting is said to have caused panic among top statehouse officials to an extent of summoning their colleagues who are based at Harambee house. Our Mole indicates that DP Ruto was offered all resources necessary to to ensure no URP MP attends tomorrow’s meeting.
No informal or formal communication has come from URP regarding tomorrow’s grand reception for Prime Minister Odinga.
