Contrary to speculations that Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko was behind the ugly and unfortunate incident in Kwale where an elderly man whipped former PM Raila Odinga as erroneously reported elsewhere, it has since revealed that the incident had nothing to do with Sonko and those dragging his name into the act are people out to plant seeds of discord between him and the former PM.
It has been established that when the ugly incident occurred as Cord leaders were drumming up support for the referendum, senator Sonko together with other leaders were attending a fund raising event in aid of Muslim Leaders Association at Waa in Kwale County and later proceeded to Ziwani to console the Mwasera family where four family members together with their two grand children were hacked to death and burnt beyond recognition.
The deceased family left behind a first year student Suleiman Mwasera of Mt. Kenya University, a form four leaver, Mariam Suleiman who is a form four student at Tsimba Secondary School, Merahidi Suleiman a class six pupil at Ngomeni Primary School and Mishi Suleiman Mwasera who lost her two daughters in the same tragedy.
