REVEALED: Senator Sonko’s dollars led to Hague arrest

REVEALED: Senator Sonko’s dollars led to Hague arrest

May 16, 2014

Yesterday we erroneously reported that Senator Mike Sonko and MP Mpuri Aburi were detained briefly at the Hague for attempting to forcefully enter the ICC Court chamber where Deputy President William Ruto’s proceedings were undergoing, however, a credible source has since clarified that Sonko and Mpuri were arrested at the airport for having excessively large amounts of money on themselves.

“Jamaa alipatikana na two thousand dollars in jacket, four thousand dollars kwa back pocket and a million dollars kwa bag. . .Mpuri alikuwa na five thousand dollars. Security became suspicious lakini embassy walisema wao ni members of Ruto’s diplomatic delegation”, reads the SMS from our source.

Calls from us to Sen Sonko to clarify the story went unanswered.
