After surviving a life-threatening well-orchestrated Jubilee thug politics, in a movie like public spat with devilish women of Nairobi representative Rachel Shebesh, the newly baptized Dr Evans Kidero has appointed respected educationist and former Alliance High School head Chris Khaemba as the education secretary of Nairobi County.
Mr Khaemba had been tapped by South Africa based Pan-African secondary school, African Leadership Academy to serve as the inaugural dean in 2008, but it is at alliance where the career teacher made his mark, and left a lasting legacy as one of the greatest education administrators Kenya has ever produced.
Interestingly, Khaemba was one of the officers of the Kenya Airforce soldiers who lost their jobs after the 1982 coup. As Moi strengthened his grip on power, the airforce, which had attracted some of the most thoughtful, and independent-minded kenyans of the 70’s and the 80’s, increasingly became targeted worried about the future of the nation. its officers were to later stage the 1982 coup; but the useless army and uneducated police joined the dictator’s side.
I had occasion to be taught by another ex-airforce soldier and never in my life have I met a man so inspiring.
