The International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has closed her case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang.
ICC’s prosecutor Fatou Bensouda notified the Trial Chamber, Parties and participants in the case of her decision to close the prosecution’s case against the accused two.
“In compliance with the Trial Chamber’s order ICC-01/09-01/11-1948-Conf, the Prosecution hereby notifies the Trial Chamber, Parties and participants that it formally closes the Prosecution’s case.â€
The good news here is that Bensouda has exhausted her list of witnesses, no more surprises and that DP Ruto’s defense team can now call their witnesses or alternatively file a motion of no case to answer if indeed they are convinced that Bensouda’s witnesses were all but crap.
DP Ruto legal team has in the past indicated they will file a no case to answer.
Positive news at ICC but NOTE that Bensouda has closed her case&NOT terminated or withdrawn the case.See attached pic.twitter.com/pMX9VcqWbA
