CORD leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has told the government to ‘clear its name’ in yesterday’s unfortunate incident where unknown gunmen shot at the car of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula in what is widely believed to be an assassination attempt.
Speaking moments after the shoot-out, the CORD leader who came to the rescue of the Senator after being tipped off told the government to investigate and arrest those culpable.
“The Government should investigate and bring the culprits to book and also exonerate itself if it was not involved.”
Raila called for thorough investigations and termed the incident an assassination attempt aimed at the Opposition to silence their criticism.
New revelations (unconfirmed) which paints a sorry state of the incident indicate that Senator Wetangula was part of the PNU sub-committee on the ICC whose other members were the Late George Saitoti, the late Mutula Kilonzo and former government Chief Whip George Thuo.
All the members of this committee have died under shocking and unclear circumstances. After the attack, Hon Wetangula recieved reinforcement with part of the PM’s “secrete service” team which is composed of some of the best trained protection ‘machines’ south of the Sahara desert and North of the river Limpopo.
