CORD Leader Raila Odinga yesterday met the emerging ”three musketeers” of ODM politics – MPs Ababu Namwamba, John Mbadi and Party director of Elections Hon Junet Mohammed.
Odinga called the three leaders in his Nairobi residence for an early morning meeting to sort out the crisis in Homa Bay stoked by Chairman Mbadi when he unilaterally called branch elections prompting Ababu and Junet to viciosly protest his sole decision-making leadership style.
Junet on Thursday furiously told off Mbadi, warning him to stop running ODM as a briefcase party. Ababu on his part maintained no party organ was called to make a decision on the Homa Bay polls which they feared was being called soon after the recent election of Senator Moses Kajwang’.
Branch officials affected by the Mbadi order – some who are MPs – also protested their arbitrary suspension, saying the party constitution was flouted.
Raila reportedly told the three leaders to end their public bickering as it is impacting negatively on the party. The three leaders agreed to work together for the benefit of the party.
There are gaps in Homa Bay ODM sub branch following the demise of Party strongman Gerald Otieno Kajwang and Party Matron the late Monica Amolo. Kajwang’ was replaced by his young brother Moses as senator and Mama Monica is set to be replaced as niminated MCA by her firebrand daughter Nancy Anyango. The branch leadership is where the gap is that should be filled by locals.
