Okoa Kenya signature booklets from around the country arrived in Nairobi as the initiative prepares for heightened political activity over the weekend.
The referendum push spearheaded by the CORD coalition seeks amendments to the constitution to increase more resources allocation to counties, strengthen land laws, strengthen the electoral independence and boundaries commission as well as other commissions and also provide frame for extraction and sharing of mineral wealth which is Kenya’s future.
CORD Leader Raila Odinga heads to Kitui and Bomet this weekend though unconfirmed sources reveal he may be headed to Mombasa.
Raila recently confirmed that Okoa Kenya and Pesa Mashinani strive to achieve the same goal and are in essence one initiative.
The signature booklets are coming from across the country as MPs, Senators, Governors and ward representatives return the books from across their regions and constituencies.
Yesterday, Okoa Kenya secretariat was abuzz with activities as youth volunteers from ODM, Wiper and Ford Kenya continued with signature verification.
