After handing ODM ticket to Moses Kajwang’, Coalition for Reforms and Democracy has taken on defectors, promising to thrash them come the February election.
However, the coalition urged defectors to return to the party to help consolidate its support base ahead of 2017.
To stem destructive internal competition, the other two CORD parties Ford Kenya and Wiper revealed they will not field candidates in the by election and will vigorously support the ODM candidate. This effectively locks out ODM defectors who had hoped to use the other CORD tickets to contest the election after losing the ODM ticket.
Speaking after handing over the certificate to the younger Kajwang’, CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka also revealed in future the coalition will field one candidate to stop splitting votes.
Engineer Philip Okundi and Fred Rabonga have already announced their respective vehicles for the upcoming by-election while Jakakimba a close ally of Raila will unveil is candidature tomorrow December 27th 2014. Jakakimba has maintained his respect for Odinga and clarified that his defection was a legal technicality if at all he will have to be on the ballot.
“I want to announce today that neither Wiper Democratic Party nor Ford Kenya will issue a nomination ticket for the Homa Bay seat,†Mr Musyoka said.
