The peoples’ president Rt hon. Raila Odinga left the country for USA last night (1oth of March 2013) for a month long visit.
Rila’s departure is likely to complicate matters for Uhuru’s propaganda machine who will have to find worthy news for prime time. Too bad Raila is now a candidate for the world’s international news – to be covered by CNN, BBC and Aljazeela, CNBC, FOX among others, the Mt Kenya owned local media will have to re-define their agenda for the next one month- what a hell of a job!
Most probably there will be an “export of jigger” campaign to Nyanza; manufactured stories of Kuria men molesting tortoise and most likely Luo men dying hungry in Migingo Island just to keep the masses going as they wait for Raila to return.
Raila’s visit is coordinated by the African Presidential Centre at the Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Mr Odinga left shortly before midnight Kenya time.
During his stay in the US, Mr Odinga will visit a number of institutions including universities across different states and meet with various leaders from various sectors. He will also hold meetings with Kenyans in the US. The former PM will be joined by a former PM from Tanzania.
During his absence from the country, he has designated Kisumu County Senator Hon Prof Anyang Nyongo to act as the ODM leader.
