Mid-air from annual Turkana Festival, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has posted his congratulatory message to the returning athletes who have made history by making Kenya top the charts at the 15th IAAF Championships in Beijing, China.
Odinga revealed he is posting from some 12,000 ft above the sea level above Lake Bogoria! The former premier, a great fan of athletics, must have been indeed impressed.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ATHLETES:
The curtains have come down on the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing with an all time high for Kenya.
I offer my congratulations to Team Kenya for the remarkable run that has seen our nation open a new chapter in athletics history books by emerging on top of the world.
It has been so much fun watching these young, extremely talented and determined Kenyans take every step, contest by contest, to put us on top of the world, literally.
I am personally humbled by this performance and determination.
I congratulate each athlete, the managers and the team leaders in the various disciplines who provided a sound leadership and inspiration enough to take us to the top and keep us there.
There could never be a more proud moment to be a Kenyan.
You have brought honour to the nation and, I believe, inspiration to your generation and the next. Be assured we all took notice.
We can’t wait to welcome you home. God Bless you and your families.
