Raila Close Confidant H E Nanok ELECTED New Council Of Governors Chairman

ODM national vice chairman His Excellence Governor Josephat Nanok has been elected the new Council of Governors chairman taking over from Meru’s Peter Munya.

ODM Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu was re-elected deputy on Monday while Kiambu’s William Kabogo will be the chief whip replacing Ukur Yatani of Marsabit.

The team was elected after the State of Devolution address as overseen by Chief Justice David Maraga.

His Execellence Governor Nanok in March this year had a firce exchange with Uhuru over Oil revenue allocation between the county government of Turkana and National governor.

“I congratulate the Council of Governors for the smooth election of new leadership.” Munya said after the closed-door process.

He asked his counterparts to preach peace during campaigns and the election.

“I call on all of you to promote cohesion and inclusiveness as we gear up to the elections. Let us be the united nation we have always been as we prepare to open the next chapter on devolution.”

Munya was elected CoG chairperson in 2015. He has pushed for the allocation of more resources to counties.
