Prof Nyong’o sends Senator Adhiambo ‘Okbichaloni’ letter after wrongful invitation

Prof Nyong’o sends Senator Adhiambo ‘Okbichaloni’ letter after wrongful invitation

TNA nominated senator Joy Adhiambo Gwendo sent Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang’ Nyongo a letter inviting him to a function to be graced by some cabinet secretary. From the response, it appears the function was to be conducted by Agriculture cabinet secretary.

However, feeling chided, or may be feeling genuinely that some county protocol/pecking order had not been followed, the senior senator sent a ‘one paragraph’ missive to the junior senator.

Both Nyong’o and Gwendo come from Kisumu County. The two however are in two opposing political camps.

Here is Nyong’o’s response:

“How can I join you in welcoming the cabinet secretary to my county? Is he coming as a personal guest or in his official capacity? Or, is he coming as a jubilee operative? In which case, I am the wrong person to invite”.

That’s all. He then concluded with a ‘thank you’.

Okbichaloni is a Luo phrase whose standard meaning is contextual but which can generally be roughly translated as  ‘you won’t understand’.  It is used to remind combatants that ‘it may not get easy’ along the way.

What a missive! CAcixGTUgAA7siv
