Prime Minister Raila Odinga MESSAGE on the KILLING of Kabete MP Hon George Muchai

Prime Minister Raila Odinga MESSAGE on the KILLING of Kabete MP Hon George Muchai

February 7, 2015

I have received with shock and disbelief the news of the cold blood murder of Kabete Member of Parliament Mr. George Muchai, his two bodyguards and driver early today in the Central Business District of Nairobi.

The shooting of the Legislator and his aides by unknown assailants is bizzare and beastly and a shock to the nation.

Mr. Muchai was a dedicated legislator and a galant trade unionist who fearlessly fought for the rights and the welfare of the workers both at his mother trade union and COTU.

The people of Kabete, the legal fraternity and the country at large have lost a leader whose immense contribution to the building of our nation in the many caps he wore will greatly be missed.

On behalf of my family, the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) the ODM party and on my own behalf, I wish the families of the late Mr. Muchai and his aides, relatives and the people of Kabete God’s strength and courage during this trying moment.

Such horrendous executions should not be happening in today’s Kenya and more so the civilised society that we live in.

I urge the government and the security to investigate this tragic incident and get to its root cause and bring the culprits to book.
May God Rest the souls of Hon. Muchai and his aides in Peace.

Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, EGH,
CORD/ODM Leader.
