Prime Minister Raila Odinga is set to leave Nairobi for a one-month long tour that will take him to at least three countries.
According to sources, Raila heads to the United Kingdom where he is expected to link up with Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto for the launch of a book on one of former president Moi’s fiercest critic Jean-Marie Seroney who is credited with standing against Moi’s dictatorial regime.
“The event will feature both the launch of the book and a discussion of the life and times of Jean-Marie Seroney, the former MP for Tindiret who became famous for his willingness to speak out during the 1970s and 1980s,†reads part of Raila’s invite.
Like Raila Odinga, Seroney’s criticism of the Moi regime and fight for democracy saw him detained at the height of Nyayo era.
Raila will leave the United Kingdom on November 17 and head to Brazil for a week-long stay before flying to Israel for a three-week stay. There are no clear details for the Brazil trip and it may be rescheduled.
