President Uhuru has not called to congratulate Nigeria’s opposition leader Gen. Buhari for winning the election against his long term friend GoodLuck Jonathan.
The President has neither called to commend Jonathan for conceding defeat unlike former President Mwai Kibaki.
The President, like many incumbents in Africa, wondered how Jonathan lost an election ‘intelligence sources’ had indicated he would win with a landslide.
In his congratulatory remarks, CORD Leader Raila Odinga saluted the Nigerian people for making democracy a reality in the continent.
â€œAfter the biggest democratic election exercise in Africa, the citizens of the continentâ€™s most populous nation have spoken in clear terms.
â€œNigerians have elected General Muhammad Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take charge of their affairs,â€ said Mr Odinga.
Suna East MP and ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohamed said the win has inspired the opposition in Kenya.
â€œWe feel inspired by the opposition win in Nigeria. We want to work hard to ensure we do the same in Kenya in 2017 so as to wipe out an absolutely corrupt government from power,â€ said ODM director of elections Junet Mohammed.
