State President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta has left the country this morning for an IGAD summit in Juba, South Sudan. It is not clear whether Deputy President William Ruto will be ‘acting’ while he is away.
On the 18th October, the President was briefed on the Sudan Peace negotiation between splinter SPLA byÂ Gen. Lazarus Sumbeiywo and Amb. Seyoum Mesfin of Ethiopia.
The President appointed Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno to be his special envoy to the Sudan conflict.
President Uhuru is the chair of IGAD and the East Africa Community.
