President Uhuru will today attend a public rally in Eldoret after presiding over a military parade. The President is expected to be joined by his embattled Deputy William Ruto who is facing revolt in his own home turf over the sacking of Kiplimo Rugut.
The community onslaught on Ruto and Ann Waigiru is led by four members of parliament including the outspoken Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, former internal security PS and Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruyot, Chebutumo MP and thousands of Kalenjin community youths in social media.
Hon Keter has maintained a strong onslaught on the Jubilee government since the SGR Corruption saga and seems to have raised his antennae after the sacking of Jasper Rugut who comes from his Nandi Hills constituency. Rugut was the director of the NYS and was replaced by a Dr Githinji.
Sources privy to the meeting indicate former Cherengany MP Joshua Kuttuny convinced Uhuru to meet the people after the military pass out parade to reduce the tension on the ground by assuring the Kalenjin community more government jobs in weeks to come.
Uhuru will also meet a section of Kalenjin elders and local leaders before the rally to try to get what issues the region strongly feels the Jubilee government should achieve.
Hon Keter last weekend told Kalenjins to ask Ruto tough questions over Rugut sacking , adding a rider in Kalenjin that was translated thus;
‘As our leader we send him to climb on the tree to harvest honey from the bee hive for all of us but suddenly he reaches on top of the tree he suddenly went quiet yet we are waiting for him under the tree. We do not know if there is honey, if he has eaten it or has been stung by bees. But those waiting down can hear the guy murmuring some words which clearly tells his mouth is full of honey.The only solution remaining is for all of us waiting down here to cut down the tree so that this guy plus the beehive and any remaining honey can come down‘ hon Alfred Kiptoo Keter MP.
Once again Uhuru will try to put the Kalenjins in the box….
