President Uhuru Kenyatta will over the weekend attend the burial of Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno’s daughter Nereah Otieno who passed away a week ago.
Sources privy to the head of state’s itinerary have informed Kenya Today that the President will travel to South Nyanza to console Hon Otieno whom he recently appointed as Kenya’s special envoy to the South Sudan conflict.
It is not yet clear whether CORD leader Raila Odinga will attend the event though an aide to Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has indicated the city governor will attend.
Also expected to attend is former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and several MPs from across the political divide.
Mr Otieno bitterly fell out with Odinga in March when he accused the CORD leader of political favouritism during the bungled ODM nominations. Since then, he has been gravitating around a new party christened ‘Kalausi’ which he and other Luo leaders in his camp are set to launch.
The late Nereah, until her untimely death, was an employee of Geothermal Development Company which is a government parastatal.
