Today Karachuonyo MP James Rege disowned the CDF project below, during the funeral of Mzee Antony Oriko in West Karachuonyo. He called the project “my mother’s stalled kitchen”.
Yesterday his aides told a writer to claim it’s “my stalled kitchen, which CDF refused to fund”. They told the writer we are exposing corruption because CDF refused to fund my “stalled kitchen”.
Today the writer inboxed: “Take it easy…. We use every many means to get information. There is some information I wanted from them on the very Ngolo Dispensary. I sided with them to look friendly. I don’t and will not support that kind of leadership.”
Rege does not know what CDF funded at Ngolo. Rege himself gave Sh100,000 for this stalled “kitchen”, but CDF does not fund private kitchens. See CDF Act 2007.
It is in the interest of honesty for Rege to “fly” to Ngolo and my home so that he can know who is lying. He can also get in touch with PMC chairman Kileon Onyango, secretary Benson Obudho, and Management Committee chairman David Apiyo to confirm this is not Kendo’s “stalled kitchen”. The lies show contempt for Kokidi Location, the project site, and Karachuonyo people whose CDF is being plundered.
Rege started sending threats to me last year and he continues to do so, whenever we raise issues of water and accountability. These threats, including today’s, have been filed with the police. CDF is a public office, and raw threats will not stop us from asking for water and accountability. The 2010 Constitution protects this position.
Details of the disowned staff house:
Sh400,000 paid to a company, OJIEMA, which is associated with CDF Karachuonyo managers. The full payment was made before the completion of the project. The project itself is a stalled hut, whose roofing is rotting blue gum poles, with no foundation, windows and doors.
The walls are cracking. The project management committee is under pressure from CDF to sign a completion certificate and make returns. Details from www.cdf.go.ke – Project Name: Ngolo Health Centre, Project Identification Code – 4-690-191-3110202-105-018.018.
Money involved: Sh400,000 for completion of staff house, roofing, plastering, fittings, and painting. Approved Project Proposal for Financial Year 2012/201oo
