Two ODM MPs known to have no chemistry within the Orange party have surprised all in their new-found working relationship.
Budalangai MP and ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, also the party’s Director of Elections, have often pulled in different directions. At some point, so bad was the two men’s political chemistry that the ODM SG appeared to endorse a local politician to take on Hon. Junet.
Junet, on the other, is alleged to have supported the ouster of Ababu as PAC chair, a position which is currently occupied by Rarieda MP Eng Nicholas Gumbo.
While the two MPs sit in top ODM decision making organ, the NEC, both are said to often engage proxies to fight their wars while maintaining camaraderie between them. During the dinner to raise funds for scholarships under the Ababu Namwamba Foundation, Junet was among the highest contributors.
This week, the two men were in Junet’s Suna East Constituency for school funds drive and are expected to appear together in one more function this week.
ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga is said to have separately told the two they have to work together for the Orange party to wage any meaningful campaign in 2017. Both MPs are consummate campaigners and public orators, something that makes them some of the most watched players in the Orange party.
