Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has been sued by a resident for allegedly favouring only kikuyus and kalenjins in the cosmopolitan county in terms of jobs.
Also sued is his Deputy Joseph Ruto and the county public service board.
Joseph Kosgey wants a total of 36 senior appoints nullified, including 12 county executive members and 24 chief officers.
Meanwhile, Members of the County assembly of Makueni will spend their festivities indoors as the county assembly accounts remain frozen. The MCAs found themselves in the current situation when they paralysed activities in the county demanding more allowances. Gov Kivutha Kibwana, obstinate, refused to play ball and the MCAs begun an impeachment process which backfired.
Kivutha then turned heat on them, and, using residents, demanded they dissolve the county to get new leaders. The successful petition is awaiting President Uhuru who has already formed a tribunal to investigate the circumstances of the no confidence vote.
As the process of removal drags on, the county coffers are frozen, with the MCAs and over 100 other county staff facing prolonged joblessness should the county assembly be dissolved.
Attempts by the MCAs to mend fences with the governor have all been futile, as the process of removing them had already picked pace. Only President Uhuru can rescue them. For now, they will spend xmas cashless with the possibility of doing the same on new year. Sad.
