Five senior Nairobi county officials were yesterday charged with corruption offences and released on a Ksh 2 million cash bail each.
The five, who include Chief finance officer Jimmy Kiamba and County Secretary Lilian Ndegwa appeared before trial magistrate Peter Ndwiga to answer to several counts in relation to a sh 17.9 million fraud case. They are accused of, among other things, forging documents and paying for services not rendered.
Other included head of county treasury Stephen Osiro and county officials Regina Rotich and Nancy Kiruri.
They have denied several counts of fraud and abuse office charges. All the accused persons are also accused of fraudulently making payment from public revenue for goods not supplied.
Hearing of the case is set for June 2015.
