MUTUNGA Cracks Whip in Judiciary, sends Majanja to Homa bay and Demotes Kimaru

May 14, 2014

In a record decision, possibly asserting himself than ever before, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has transferred senior judicial officers and demoting others.

Justice David Majanja of Constitutional Division has been moved to Homa Bay as the resident judge.

In Nairobi, Justice Majanja made many rulings, several which were seen to be contentious.

Mr Justice Majanja recently issued the most controversial conservatory orders in the case against Central Bank Governor Prof Njuguna Ndung’u. He then directed that the matter be mentioned before Justice Ngugi on March 12.

Luka Kimaru the head of Family Division of the High Court has been demoted and his place taken up by Justice Aggrey Muchelule who leaves his Kisumu station for Nairobi.

There have been several complaints about the family division.
