Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has rubbished calls by a section of ODM aspirants for the Migori gubernatorial seat to subject candidates in party primaries.
Junet supported having Prof Edward Akong’o Oyugi as the party’s sole candidate claiming it is a tradition in the party to give successful petitioners the ticket to vie for the positions they petitioned in courts.
” ODM should not subject Prof Oyugi to any nomination exercise. It has always been a tradition in the party that if a member successful wins a court petition, he is given direct ticket. If the party allows a nomination, the Jubilee might infiltrate the process,” said Mohamed.
The Suna MP dared Jubilee Alliance to field their candidates and face ODM at the ballot but stay away from ODM internal affairs. This was a jibe at ousted governor Zachary Obado who has maintained a close working relationship with the Jubilee Alliance.
“Let Jubilee field its candidates and meet in the ballot. They should look for their own candidates and field in the by-election. ODM must be weary of Jubilee’s hand in the Migori,” added Mohamed.
