When a leader is elected, it is because Wananchi have faith in him or her that he or she will protect Government resources and use all he or she has for public use. However, in our country, some leaders have used their offices to rip off Wananchi. Being elected into office has become synonymous with self-enrichment at the expense of the public.
As I stated last week, as part of Maendeleo Chap Chap ideology, I am on a campaign to purge all corrupt elements who are from Machakos County. I will not allow anyone, irregardless of how senior or connected he or she is to condone stealing from Wananchi. As the Governor of Machakos, it is my responsibility to protect the people of Machakos from greedy officials and to expose those whose behavior is un-acceptable.
Today, I am going to start from the very top.
My Deputy Governor, Bernard Kiala, has been using his position to steal from Wananchi by diverting Government resources to his personal use and using his office to demand for bribes and sexual favours from innocent Machakos residents.
We have provided all the information we have to the relevant bodies. I urge all investigative bodies to move with speed to investigate allegations of corruption and malpractices by Bernard Kiala and to take appropriate action. I am aware, some of the investigative bodies have compiled huge dossiers of very many corrupt allegations against Bernard Kiala. Wananchi want to see action on all corrupt allegations against their leaders and Government officials who are busy robbing them blind.
We cannot continue with endless investigations while thieves walk around free oozing of impunity.
Some of the allegations that we have forwarded to investigative bodies include:-
(a) Theft of irrigation pipes meant for an irrigation Program for Kamu Irrigation Scheme Kibaoni, Mwala for the set-up of a personal massive irrigation scheme in the home of Bernard Kiala in Mukusu sub-location, Masinga. Specific details are attached.
(b) Demand for bribes from poor and struggling youth so as to influence their hiring in the Government.
(c) Demand of sexual favours and using his office to seek sexual favours from innocent and struggling girls looking for employment.
(d) Attempts to influence tender processes to award inflated tenders to people or companies associated to him.
It is quite sad that while I spend sleepless nights planning and working on how to save public money and provide Chap Chap services, my Deputy Governor is busy planning on how to steal and set us back.
Finally, if Government officials concentrated on spending public money and working tirelessly for Wananchi, we would be a First World Country. Kenyans have suffered as a result of land grabbing, diversion of funds, inflation of tenders, bribe demands, tribalism, nepotism and un-ethical behavior by their leaders and Government officials.
Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement is about zero tolerance to corruption and delivery of speed development and services to Wananchi.
