Several ODM politicians led by ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba belittled the opposition role of both CORD and ODM saying they will work with the government.
“We have matured politically to realise that we can only have one government at a time,” said Namwamba. While this is true, the nature of Kenya’s plural democracy is that those who lost to the government form the opposition to put the government on check, not turn to be government apologists and sycophants.
Some event bordered on declaring their support for the President in the next elections with one claiming Luhya people must join the government of the day.
What these MPs forget is that no one has ever stopped them from working with the government, and many are known to be handout seekers from officials of the same government.
President Uhuru was received by Kakamega Governor Wicliffe Oparanya, Senator Boni Khalwale, MPs Ababu Namwamba, Ayub Savula, former minister Fred Gumo, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli among others.
